Welcome to Magnoshutatt!

The game is officially OPEN! Feel free to make your own posts in the community and get the ball rolling. To commemorate the game's opening, we've set up this intro mingle post to help you guys get settled in. NPCs might even pop in from time to time to guide your characters along or make their school life harder. Even so, we hope you have fun and enjoy!

Please don't forget to add the date when the thread is taking place (e.g. "5th day of the 1st term", "term 1, day 5") in the subject line! December 1 is the 1st day of the 1st term, December 2 is the 2nd... you get the idea.

DUNGEON'S ENTRANCE

Everyone starts here. You open your eyes and realize not only are you not alone but there are other people here who have no idea how they arrived just like you.

[ No matter what the lady magician told her, or how hard she thinks about this, Sayaka Maizono is convinced that this place is an afterlife of all sorts. This can't be a dream... dead people can't dream. If anything, she would suspect that the stab in her gut made her comatose, but it can't be true. She could see her vision blur and turn white, the last thing she saw was that... horrible murderer staring down at her with glee as life slowly slipped away from her body.

Everyone could spot something that doesn't mesh well with the scenery... more in detail, there's a girl standing immobile, gaze fixed on the ground so her eyes couldn't be seen. She's wearing one of those classic japanese schoolgirl uniforms, but the thing that doesn't mesh is the fact that its front is... soaked in blood. Soaked like the knife that she's holding in one hand.

Of course nobody around her would know the context of such appearance, but if you decide to approach her anyway, she won't attack you. Instead, she'll stare at you with the widest blue eyes imaginable, after which she tries to mutter a "hello" with a shaky, but soft voice. ]

[ It still has to be a dream. She fell asleep at the train station and it's just a dream. Koharu takes a few steps forward, her purse clutched at her side and looking around nervously. Trying to will herself awake is just leaving her with a headache and she reaches up to rub her temples before looking around again.]

I fell asleep. It's just a dream...A very lucid dream.

[Ditching work in favor of a personal day had been a fabulous idea in Poland's opinion. There was always work that needed to be done when one was a nation. Even if he had managed to finish everything expected of him today a new stack of paperwork would just be waiting in it's place for him tomorrow. Booooring.

Getting a manicure, exfoliating his pores and giving his pet pony a blueberry facial seemed like a way better use of his time. Besides, if he was going to have to do twice the amount of work tomorrow, he definitely deserved today off to relax! It was only fair, his boss would totally understand. Probably.

But... somewhere between putting cucumber slices over his eyes and taking them off something weird happened. The vision of birds and the odd woman rambling on about magic was definitely not normal. Also he was suddenly no longer in his house and there were strangers everywhere was totally worrisome. That and he was out in public in his pink fluffy bathrobe with matching slippers and green gunk all over his face.

Shying away from anyone who might be getting too close for comfort, Poland fumbles through the pockets of his robe looking for the tube his mud mask had come out of.]

Oh my god, like, what the heck is the active ingredient in this stuff, kompot?

[Even after getting his bearings, Latvia was still blinking spots out of his eyes. This was... what was there really to say about it? The last thing he remembered was being lead out of the waiting room to get the gash on his arm stitched up.

Absentmindedly his gaze drifted down to his right arm, still cradled in the compress he'd been given to stop the bleeding. He lifted it off slightly to check the cut. It had certainly made a mess but it didn't feel like enough blood loss to case him to hallucinate. Unless he was hallucinating that he hadn't lost that much blood. Either way, he didn't feel faint at all besides the sight uneasiness of being displaced so suddenly.

Waiting for someone to collect him seemed like the best course of action. People had been so insistent that he go the the hospital they probably didn't want him wondering off in strange places. Latvia sat on the bottom step and watched as another strangely shaped light flew overhead. Curiously he glanced at the people passing by]

Uhm... Excuse me. This isn't the hospital, is it?

[This should probably be some grand adventure, full of scrambling everywhere, looking over every little thing--but Russia's pretty much just standing outside the Dungeon with a bemused look on his face. A minute ago he'd been on a battlefield and now he's stuck in some magician's school????

Well. Okay then.

He blinks, cradles his uniform's hat in his hand and moves among the group of other people surrounding the Dungeon. Maybe he just had to go find some answers first and then he'll be able to go back home. He was rather busy after all. And really, the school uniforms they were handing out were totally not his style.]

[this is... not happening. the last thing Tsugumi remembered was

tears in Eternal Feather-senpai's eyes, a wet slice as her neck was cut, a spray of blood

and then Tsugumi had passed out shortly after. didn't she? but instead this happened...

she was too much in shock to protest much to the woman's words or even fully take in what she was saying. but now that she's suddenly not at the Death Bazaar, and her friends are nowhere in sight- is Eternal Feather alright? did she die?! Tsugumi can only stand still, legs trembling, as she gapes like a fish pulled out of the water.]

I-I- um- I need to- [she stammers out loud, the scene of Eternal Feather cutting her neck still replaying over and over in her mind. when Tsugumi happens to spot your character, she'll be stumbling over, nearly falling over at their feet.]

Help- please help me! What's going on?!

[ uh, wait a minute ... he's pretty sure he's not even really allowed to be at other dungeons. and also what's this "you're a magician aren't you?" stuff...?

did sinbad drink too much last night? ah, he definitely drank too much, didn't he ... although he doesn't feel awful or anything, all things considered. maybe he just doesn't want to think about something being Very, Very Wrong here. he's not against learning more, but it's not exactly good timing. or good anything right now. ]

No, listen. I'm not a magician. I'm Sinbad. [ he pauses, waiting for a reaction from somebody, anybody standing around him. COME ON GUYS!!! the famous sinbad?? ] Sinbad ... the King of Sindria?

[Really? Really? He was tired from all the walking around the shopping centers he did earlier today and he was really looking forward to getting back home after such a hard day. But no... Now he was just standing here, holding a shopping bag full of Christmas gifts he had bought for others, and he felt like a fool.

He sighs angrily before setting down the large bag so he can fish through his pockets. Where was his pipe?]

KODOR EXAM

After arriving, you will be taken to the Kodor Exam. Once your turn is up, step into the magic circle and perform your greatest spell! Regardless of how much or how little magic you had at home, you will be able to perform a very weak spell and be placed in the 6th kodor.

What happens here is explained in the Kodor section of the Academy & School Life page.

5th day of 1st term

[The fact that Lithuania had no idea what to do when pushed up to take the exam was pretty obvious in the way he looked around at the arena as if it might grow fur and start talking to him. He looks incredibly embarrassed about the whole thing, really, because there's no way he can perform any magic--that was never something he'd been able to do. Eventually he makes a self-conscious attempt at it, though--

And he's incredibly surprised when he actually blows a rock across the room and ends up in sixth kodor. He's left wandering out of the testing grounds gaping at the various objects he'd suddenly been given.]

[Tazendra was still very uncertain what was going on, and feeling naked since her sword was in another plane at the moment. But sorcery? She knew sorcery. She had been doing sorcery for longer this entire room of Easterners had been alive -- in total.

[She just had to reach for the Great Sea of Amorphia and-

[That was a problem. She felt something, but it was like cloud when one expected a snowbank. She threw the energy out into the largest explosion she could manage.]

Well, this has never happened to me before. Usually it is quite the opposite.

[ Perform a spell? Did she look like that scaffy witch in the forest or the mysterious woman at the dungeon entrance to these people? Yes, magic is a belief that her mother had fostered in her since her earliest years despite mockery from her skeptical father, but believing in magic and actually doing magic are two different beasts. Although it is true that mystical beings such as the will-o'-the-wisps have been appearing to Merida for as long as she can remember, she doubts that any spell - let alone her "greatest" one - would come to her in her hour of need.

It goes without saying that the flames she produces when she finds herself in the magic circle, pathetic though they may be, take Merida by surprise - in fact, the sight startles her into a yelp. ]

Did- did I just do that? I don't understand. How…?

[ Maybe that woman was telling the truth after all. ]

( Serra has just finished taking her exam and is raising a scene. )

No, there must be a mistake! I demand to try again! Surely, a magician as talented as me can do better. J-just watch.

Oh, blessed Saint Eli-- are you paying attention? Ex-CUSE me!

( "Sixth Kodor." )

This is soooooo annoying!

[Though still disoriented and uneasy from her sudden relocation, Hama had seen no other choice than to enroll at the school, if only to find some answers. The prospect of an immediate examination made her anxious, though. Her Psynergy was gone, without warning, as if it had been cut out of her. She already knew she would be doing no "magic". Her only option was to demonstrate her Chi, and even that felt off somehow...

But she had to try. Standing at the circle, she dropped into a lowered stance, then jumped into a spinning kick, focusing her Chi through her leg - but to her surprise, it produced not the intended force, but a weak gust of wind that kicked up a puff of dust from the ground.

Sixth kodor, they announced. And though she didn't know what that meant, she took the things they gave her, eyeing them skeptically as she walked away from the testing area.]

... Is this ... real?

DORMITORIES

Once you have been sorted into your kodor, you'll receive a schedule and be escorted to the dormitories. Meet your room mate, say hello to your neighbor, and make some friends.

[ Her head is spinning. What Sayaka learned during her short stay is that she was suddenly tossed in a school where you can use magic of the sorts, other people have been sent here, that this is not really the afterlife, and apparently this knife has become her wand.

She can't feel anymore confused than this.

Fortunately, though, she was allowed to change from her bloody clothes. The first thing she thought to do was to look for her classmates... one person in particular. But the search wasn't fruitful so far. Even so, she'll try to at least get to know the people here. After all, they're in the same boat.

Whether she already met them or not, she's going to wear her best smile and approach people, simply starting off with, ]

[ Clutching her gun to her chest, Koharu sat down hard on her bed. Or what she assumed was her bed. It was the one closet to the wall and there wasn't anyone else here. She left the doorway open and rubbed her temples. She had moved water. She was far from home with a strange power. She just wanted to go home.]

Male Dormitories Day 5

[He's just sort of staring at the door to the room. This still makes next to no sense to him and he's already yelled his way through a temper and back downstairs with the testing people

[ Standing in the doorway to Room 105, staring inside the door for several moments, remembering the last time he stayed in a dormitory, biting back tears. ]

It's time to look at your schedule. Lucky you! You have body strengthening maref. Wow, what does that mean? You will quickly find out it is like an extreme physical education class. When will you learn magic? Fool! With a body as weak as yours, you should not even waste your time thinking about that!

[Body Strengthening? Like, as if. He was already totally super strong! These people obviously had no idea what they were talking about.

Sure, the fire ball he managed at that Kodor Exam thing came out a little lame, but so was everyone else's. He was more of 'works better under pressure type' anyways.

Besides getting sweaty was gross.]

BASIC MAGIC MAREF

On the first day of class, you will be asked to place your hand on a statue to figure out what your type affinity is. After that, expect to learn some very basic lessons like how to light a handle, move water, or turn a pinwheel. You will also learn how to use basic flying magic to navigate the magic carpets around the city.

[ Kiki's disappointed in herself, honestly. She thought, being a witch, she'd fly through all of this (pun intended) with flying colors, but she still could only manage a tiny poof when she discovered her type affinity. She was no better than any of the other people, who had no idea they could use magic before that day.

That is, she was disappointed in herself until she was told they'd be flying. When offered a magic carpet, she just shakes her head. ] Oh, no thank you! I've got this handled already. [ She pulls out her broom, waves it around for a moment for the teacher, then firmly plants herself on it and takes off. After about five minutes, she circles back around to the class, with a tiny, slightly coy smile. ] So, how'd I do?

LUNCH BREAK

After a long day of class, it is time to take a break for lunch. Where you sit in the dining hall is crucial because everyone is here. You have your sixth kodor weaklings, magician nerds, cool magicians, unfriendly magician hotties, magicians who eat their feelings...

[Roy has made a classic mistake.]

[He has taken a seat in the corner, with a book he'd gotten from who knows where, and is scowling at it with an expression that promises a cold response to anyone who dares disturb him.]

[Why is this a mistake? Well, he's a secretive and antisocial figure in a corner. By definition, he must have a plot hook or some interesting task or information!]

LIBRARY

Maybe you were just exploring when you found it or you really need to study. The library is full of books as far and as high as one can see. There are ladders to reach books on high shelves but some books require use of a magic carpet.

From the Magnoshutatt info page: A wide selection of literature on various topics can be found here - fiction, poetry, treatises, travel guides, you name it. Most books and scrolls will be about magic, of course. Material on other nations in the game’s setting may be found, but characters will find nothing about Magnoshutatt’s history.
