GRAND OPENING: MINGLE POST!

Welcome to Magnoshutatt!
The game is officially OPEN! Feel free to make your own posts in the community and get the ball rolling. To commemorate the game's opening, we've set up this intro mingle post to help you guys get settled in. NPCs might even pop in from time to time to guide your characters along or make their school life harder. Even so, we hope you have fun and enjoy!

Please don't forget to add the date when the thread is taking place (e.g. "5th day of the 1st term", "term 1, day 5") in the subject line! December 1 is the 1st day of the 1st term, December 2 is the 2nd... you get the idea.

Xykon should be stopped either way. As evil as his plan is, if he didn't have it he'd just be doing something equally as bad! There's no redemption for someone like that, and no excuse.

Ah, then he is evil. Yes, I quite agree, and am surprised that only yourself and whatever friends you can gather are engaged in that pursuit. Were he in the Empire, he would be unable to move but for heros trying to challenge him.
greatcleavage: (typical really)

[personal profile] greatcleavage 2012-12-29 04:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, his first appearance as our foe was in a dungeon well outside of any meaningful jurisdiction, and his second was in the middle of a hobgoblin army, so he's been pretty well out of any kingdom's reach without an army. And to be honest... he's an epic-level sorcerer. Armies aren't much either. Nor are heroes. I hate to admit it, but I think I'm still the highest-level good character on the field -- or close, after the resurrection level loss -- and he's still a dozen higher.

I doubt tales of his power would stop me, or those heros of my House.

[Because Dzurlords have a reputation for a disregard for the odds of winning that verges on insanity]

[personal profile] greatcleavage 2012-12-31 06:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes... sometimes you have to make the effort and engage, even if your chances of winning are painfully low.

But I'd really like to avoid dying again if at all possible.

Again, you say?

[sorry, she's been out of touch of recent magical developments]
greatcleavage: (i disagree with your viewpoint)

[personal profile] greatcleavage 2013-01-01 06:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, it wasn't the most convenient state of affairs. Especially considering my corpse got turned into a bone golem at one point.

I am surprised your gods permitted your soul to return after such a time. And the magic to anchor a soul to a body without any sign of undeath... well, I have not heard of such a spell before.
greatcleavage: (confused)

[personal profile] greatcleavage 2013-01-02 03:12 am (UTC)(link)
Well, it did take a Resurrection spell instead of ordinary Raise Dead, so that did complicate things. But wait... they don't have magic like that on your plane?
fearlessherosheart: Annoyed Tazendra (annoyed)

[personal profile] fearlessherosheart 2013-01-02 03:28 am (UTC)(link)
Some scholars are approaching the problem of magical healing after the heart has ceased, but before the soul has started on its journey. But the state of the soul once it has entered the Paths of the Dead is supposed to prevent it from returning to a living body outside of rebirth.
greatcleavage: (alarmed)

[personal profile] greatcleavage 2013-01-02 02:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Wait, your upper planes imprison the soul?

[Roy is much closer to horrified than anything else. Not quite there yet, but that's so antithetical to both his theology and his personal experience...]
fearlessherosheart: Annoyed Tazendra (annoyed)

[personal profile] fearlessherosheart 2013-01-02 08:54 pm (UTC)(link)
It is not imprisonment, merely an effect of the Paths. No one living can leave the Paths of the Dead -- only the undead, and those souls bound for a new incarnation.

Well, there was one exception, but she was the Empress and had the the Imperial Orb to protect her.
greatcleavage: (i disagree with your viewpoint)

[personal profile] greatcleavage 2013-01-03 02:10 pm (UTC)(link)
There's a pretty fine line between "souls can't come back because they're imprisoned" and "souls can't come back because they're stuck there involuntarily", especially if it takes artifact-level intervention just to plane shift out.
fearlessherosheart: Angry Tazendra (anger)

[personal profile] fearlessherosheart 2013-01-04 12:31 am (UTC)(link)
I nearly think you are insulting our afterlife, sir.

[and someone has to remember that she doesn't have her sword with her, but that was definitely a twitch of her sword hand]
greatcleavage: (nervous)

[personal profile] greatcleavage 2013-01-04 02:25 pm (UTC)(link)
[Whereas Roy very much does had his sword with him... not that that will stop her.]

Whoa, whoa, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to be offensive. It's just totally different than what I'm accustomed to -- and the undead thing, I'm kind of sensitive about.
fearlessherosheart: Annoyed Tazendra (annoyed)

[personal profile] fearlessherosheart 2013-01-05 12:18 am (UTC)(link)
[oh, well, dang]

Ah, well, then you are forgiven.
greatcleavage: (talky man)

[personal profile] greatcleavage 2013-01-05 05:59 pm (UTC)(link)
It's sort of like coming here -- when things are dramatically different than what you expect, you start wondering why.
fearlessherosheart: Tazendra (Default)

[personal profile] fearlessherosheart 2013-01-06 12:12 am (UTC)(link)
I had not wondered, in fact, but I believe I am starting to.

[personal profile] greatcleavage 2013-01-06 01:45 am (UTC)(link)
Well, I wouldn't say resurrection magics are common on my world, but it's not outside the ability of a medium-level cleric to accomplish. Our 'afterlives' are nine different alignment-oriented planes, for that matter.
