To commemorate the game's opening, we've set up this intro mingle post to help you guys get settled in. NPCs might even pop in from time to time to guide your characters along or make their school life harder. Even so, we hope you have fun and enjoy!

Please don't forget to add the date when the thread is taking place (e.g. "5th day of the 1st term", "term 1, day 5") in the subject line! December 1 is the 1st day of the 1st term, December 2 is the 2nd... you get the idea.

[Roy looks up, quickly appraises her, and just as quickly decides that this woman certainly doesn't look the type to mock, harass, bully, or intimidate him for the unforgivable social crime of reading while at school. His expression quickly relaxes from its former coldness to a smile.]

Sure, by all means.

[His thoughts have gone the same route hers have, for that matter: it's nice to see someone who isn't under the age of eighteen around here.]

[neijing]

Thank you. [She bows slightly and sits, relieved. At least he seems to be one of those people who's friendlier than they look. Once situated a little better, she adds:] My name is Hama.

[Bad circumstances are what make him look so hostile. He's certainly relaxed a great deal.]

[It's also obvious where his name comes from, to look at his sword.]

Hama sounds... vaguely Azurite.

[neijing]

[Duly noted. Other than that, she doesn't find anything unusual about his name.]

I'm afraid it isn't. I've never been to, em... [whoops, she just thought of a couple of city names that "Azurite" could extrapolate to, but doesn't want to get it wrong.] ... That is, I've never met an Azurite.

[greatcleavage]

Oh, I have no doubt you haven't been there. I have yet to see a single person that I'd even guess was from my world. As near as I can tell I got dropped her alone, and I'm guessing that's true for a lot of people.

[neijing]

... Your "world"?

[greatcleavage]

I'm not certain if this is a demiplane, another Prime Material plane, or something weirder... but I'm certain I'm not on the world where I started out.

[neijing]

[wait no go back to the part about there being more than one world. D: Hama leans forward, her meal pretty much forgotten.]

That's impossible. [but she doesn't sound convinced.]

[greatcleavage]

I --

[Roy stops, not entirely certain how to respond to the factual truth being so directly called nonsense. Of course there are multiple worlds!]

Why do you say that?

[neijing]

[It's a fundamental blow to her lifelong understanding of what constitutes "everything," for a start. She pauses to formulate her thoughts.]

... A lot of strange things have happened today. But ... I only think we ought to rule out more reasonable explanations first. To say straight away that we must have dropped off the edge of the world, why... it's absurd.

[greatcleavage]

It doesn't strike me as absurd... but I am an adventurer. Admittedly, we have a lot more dealings with extraplanar creatures and travel than your average NPC off the street.

[neijing]

[Meanwhile the poor NPC is trying super hard to understand what he's even talking about. Hama rubs her temples, trying not to seem agitated.]

All right. If, as you say, we are all on some extra - extraplanar adventure, then how? How would you take someone such a distance without their notice?

[greatcleavage]

[Roy hesitates -- because what he WANTS to say, what he believes, is that his old campaign just got scrapped entirely and he's been imported whole-cloth into a new one. But that's just... too horrible.]

A summoning spell, most likely. Not the sort that usually get used, those have a much shorter duration, but it otherwise seems to fit.

[neijing]

[A spell...] "Magic," then. You have experience with it?

[greatcleavage]

Oh, well, not directly. Formerly not directly. I'm a fighter, but of course our adventuring party had a cleric, wizard, and bard, with their respective divine and arcane magics. I'm familiar with it in the practical sense.

[neijing]

[An adventuring party... it's hard for her to think of "adventuring" as its own activity, and she can't immediately imagine what goal a priest, sorcerer, and musician might have in common.]

Is it similar to the sort they use here?

[greatcleavage]

[Roy hesitates, then admits something that's been quietly bothering him for some time.]

No. This is all a lot like sorcery, but the actual mechanics don't appear to relate.

[neijing]

How do you mean?

[greatcleavage]

Both of them draw off the same energy field and have the same basic spells. Magic missile, fireball, Evard's Spiked Tentacles of Forced Intrusion, so on. But even if you assume the 'rukh' they keep talking about here is just flavor test for arcane energy, the spells and progression so far are nothing like basic arcane magic.
