[Easterners? Well... clearly this woman comes from a tribe of elves that lives far to the west of human lands. Definitely a weird culture thing going on here, but Roy doesn't really mind; she has a clearly-defined gender, which definitely puts her one up on the elves he's familiar with.]

It is the organization I belong to. It is prestigious, though. Why, I am only one of two Lavodes in the Empire.

They're a standard campaign arc. We've got 'powerful lich lord seeks to control the world' as ours. Oversimplifying it, of course, but that one was purely home-grown.

It's a little more complicated. The 'gates' in question are constructed wards to prevent tears in the fabric of existence from releasing an existence-killing abomination. The abomination is what Xykon intends to use to rule the world, so he needs a gate.
