GRAND OPENING: MINGLE POST!

Welcome to Magnoshutatt!
The game is officially OPEN! Feel free to make your own posts in the community and get the ball rolling. To commemorate the game's opening, we've set up this intro mingle post to help you guys get settled in. NPCs might even pop in from time to time to guide your characters along or make their school life harder. Even so, we hope you have fun and enjoy!

Please don't forget to add the date when the thread is taking place (e.g. "5th day of the 1st term", "term 1, day 5") in the subject line! December 1 is the 1st day of the 1st term, December 2 is the 2nd... you get the idea.

It's not so surprising.

[Roy falls into easy step alongside.]

After all, I went to school to learn to be a fighter. Now that I'm stuck in school to be a sorcerer, no doubt more parallels will emerge.

I suppose you're from a world different than mine. We don't have fighters or sorcerers. I mean, we have the military, but no magic at all.

You had to have had some magic -- I'm fairly certain summoning or transportation spells can't take someone from an antimagic environment. That isn't to say you had wizards or sorcerers available to use it... as strange as that sounds.

Well... if there was magic in my world, I surely never saw it with my own eyes. I mean, there are magic shows back home - but it's not real magic, it's more like a series tricks to impress people.

Prestidigitation, I understand. So your world lacks both an organized study of magic and inborn talent with it --

No, that's impossible. If magic exists in any form, someone has to have studied it. A significantly lower ratio of draconic interbreeding or whatever claim sorcerers make to justify their power, I can believe -- although I've picked up a level in it and my family tree is strictly homo sapiens -- but human nature doesn't allow for the potential to exist and NOT be explored...
idolizer: (to get through the daze)

[ ... she's starting to think he's probably played too many RPGs. ]

Like I said, if there's magic, I never witnessed it. I can't know everything about my world, though.
greatcleavage: (confused)

[personal profile] greatcleavage 2012-12-25 06:30 pm (UTC)(link)
That's true. We all only have so many skill points for Knowledges, after all.

Still... [He looks at her sidelong as they walk.] Are you doing all right, then? This is a bad situation but I'm at least used to adventures, however inconvenient.
idolizer: (with the hands of uncertainty)

[personal profile] idolizer 2012-12-26 08:35 pm (UTC)(link)
For now, I'm not expecting any danger to come my way. [ She says that even though that may not be what he meant, but she's that wary after dying by the hands of the one guy she tried to manipulate and kill. Not that she'll find him in this place, right...? ] The more I know about what's going on, the less I'm going to worry about it.
greatcleavage: (as if anything could go right around her)

[personal profile] greatcleavage 2012-12-27 02:32 pm (UTC)(link)
[Well, these two between them have more deaths in their history than most people... but substantially fewer than most adventurers, so maybe they're doing something right.]

I've never found knowledge brings less worry, but I'd rather know as much as possible than not enough. Whatever I might want, I'm sure I can't sit out whatever disaster or crisis is at hand.
idolizer: (would you go into that room)

[personal profile] idolizer 2012-12-27 11:04 pm (UTC)(link)
True... ah, this reminds me of that one series of books I used to read when I was little. It was about a magic school that was a bit similar to this one. [ It didn't have magic carpets though. ] I think it's definitely different than our current situation, but it's a funny thought.

[Roy's smirk is distinctly lopsided.] My sister is enrolled in Warthog's right now. Er, Warthog's School of Wizardry and Sorcery. She's the one they wanted for this adventure, I think. I guess I'm just the one with the bad luck.
idolizer: (there's no alibi)

[ ... did she bring up a bad memory? ] Ah, I'm sorry about that.
greatcleavage: (talky man)

[personal profile] greatcleavage 2012-12-29 04:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, it's nothing you should blame yourself for. It's just that she wants to learn magic.
idolizer: (gives me strength to stand)

[personal profile] idolizer 2012-12-31 03:40 am (UTC)(link)
And you didn't? Couldn't you be enrolled as well?
greatcleavage: (sometimes things do go right?)

[personal profile] greatcleavage 2013-01-01 06:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, that would have made my father happy. But I wanted to learn to be a fighter.
idolizer: (i know; there's no retrieving)

[personal profile] idolizer 2013-01-02 12:39 am (UTC)(link)
Does a fighter have different skills than magic?
greatcleavage: (confused)

[personal profile] greatcleavage 2013-01-02 03:12 am (UTC)(link)
Uh... fighting. Fighters develop skill and tactical strategy on the battlefield to defeat their opponents.
idolizer: (there's no blood)

[personal profile] idolizer 2013-01-04 06:20 am (UTC)(link)
Just fighting with weapons? I expected something more... uhm, showy.
greatcleavage: (i disagree with your viewpoint)

[personal profile] greatcleavage 2013-01-04 02:34 pm (UTC)(link)
If you're talking about 'showy' in terms of 'I speak a few words, wave my hands, and things explode without any significant effort on my part,' then no, it's not showy. The kind of flash and glamor that fighters have is charging into the fray, and with an astounding display of skill, determination, grit, and technical prowess, defeating the foe.
idolizer: (what have you done?)

[personal profile] idolizer 2013-01-04 11:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, that kind of "showy" works as well. If you put it that way, that is...
greatcleavage: (victory and also naked roy)

[personal profile] greatcleavage 2013-01-05 05:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Of course! I was practically raised on the stories of my fighter grandfather! He singlehandedly slew the red dragons of Reddragonsville and rescued the fair Princess Damsel!
idolizer: (there's no alibi)

[personal profile] idolizer 2013-01-10 05:24 am (UTC)(link)
... That sounds like some cliche fantasy story about heroes, dragons and princesses.
greatcleavage: (talky man)

[personal profile] greatcleavage 2013-01-10 04:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Fancy that. Actually, that isn't an uncommon occurrence where I'm from, but that one is true. My grandfather's exploits are why our family is named after our sword.
